Mexico’s Manufacturing Supply Chain Summit 2022 was held on March 31 in El Paso, TX.
The event was well-attended with hundreds of professionals and organizations from Mexico and the United States, providing a wealth of networking opportunities. In addition, the summit featured a vendor hall and sessions hosted by a variety of companies, including automotive, aerospace and appliance manufacturers, industrial processors and logistics organizations.
During the sessions and featured speeches, speakers presented topics that are currently affecting companies in both countries.
One big topic was the current supply chain situation. The speaker touched on how companies are still fighting complications from the pandemic and are now facing new challenges due to the war in Ukraine. Prior to the pandemic, many organizations used a “just-in-time” mindset for materials–keep just enough in stock to meet production demands while saving on storage costs. Some are now switching to a “just-in-case” mindset, where they keep more materials and components on hand in case they run into supply chain issues again. Many are also looking for ways to focus more on regional vendors and suppliers, rather than relying on the global market as much.
