PACK EXPO Las Vegas returned on September 27-29 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
As with the other industry events that have hosted in-person shows this year, PACK EXPO experienced a strong turnout, but one that wasn’t quite up to pre-pandemic levels. This year’s event still welcomed 1,528 exhibitors and 23,042 attendees. Nearly 50% of those attendees were new to the show.
Across four huge exhibitor halls–taking up a grand total of 741,982 sq. ft.–companies showcased a wide range of packaging and processing solutions. At this year’s event, robotics and automation especially had a large showing with a number of exhibitors showcasing unique solutions to help package, palletize and more.
In addition to the exhibitors, PACK EXPO offered attendees more than 80 free educational sessions at the Forum, PACK to the Future and Innovation stages around the convention center.
The 2021 Technology Excellence Awards were also announced at the EXPO. More than 100 qualified entries were submitted for the honors, and attendees had the opportunity to vote for their favorites at the show. The winners were:
- Food & Beverage – Canovation CanReseal Beverage design, which adds threading below the double-seam so a metal closure can be screwed into the cop of the can for an airtight seal
- General Packaging – P.E. Labellers Simpl-Cut package, a groundbreaking roll-fed labeling system that provides exceptional performance and flexibility
- General Processing – Hiperbaric HPP In-Bulk technology, a global innovation for high-volume HPP beverage processing
- Personal Care/Pharmaceuticals – Canovation CanReseal Beverage design
In addition, MWC, CTI Foods and Kraft Heinz were recognized with Manufacturing Innovation Awards for their state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies.
Another highlight of the 2021 PACK EXPO was the Packaging and Processing Women’s Leadership Network (PPWLN) breakfast. Close to 500 industry professionals attended the event, which included a keynote speech by Tracey Noon, co-founder and CEO of Wicked Good Cupcakes. She was joined by other speakers talking about the new world of work and what it means for manufacturing.
The next event, PACK EXPO East, is scheduled for March 21–23, 2022, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Registration is open now.
